Ok, I feel that supplementing protein is just for that, supplementation. That is if you can not get the protein from food sources. I am a firm believer in eating the protein in its form that it comes with, many of the benefits of meat are lost when swapped out for shakes. Why compromise nutrition for the sake of a shake? It contains none of the zinc, that meat has, none of the B-vitamins like...  |

Hi I am a new member but thats beside the point my question is for heather or anybody that would know I was reading the name brand safe foods and i noticed its hard finding a lot of the brands named in any food store..does anybody know where i could find things like the tofutti soy cheese slices and where i could find things like soy cream cheese some place like wild oats or health ... |

Melissa - Actually, I've only recently started buying rice, flours, beans in bulk - thanks to having more time since retirement, and "getting involved" in new things - sour doughs, canning, etc. Yes, I have a store nearby (Henry's - was Wild Oats) that I purchase small amounts of things - like wheat germ, wheat berries, soy, buckwheat, etc., and have not purchased those in bulk. So far... |

Just out of high school I worked at a health food supermarket called Wild Oats. I was in dairy/frozen. I had lots of fun there. The shipments of products would come in big containers cooled by dry ice. I like to pull pranks on people, so I would take the dry ice blocks and put them in the utility sink and let hot water run on it. Let me introduce myself, I'm Adi (pronounce Addy). My specialty is cold processed goat's milk soaps, made with fresh goat's milk. I also make body butter, salt and sugar scrubs, bath salts, bath balms, and bath fizzies. We don't have a Whole Foods here in town, but we too went through the " Wild Oats buying out a local natural food chain" fiasco. When Wild Oats decided they weren't making enough money, a local grocer took over the stores. Now they're amazingly well stocked, with very knowledgeable staff (the cheese and wine stewards are amazing). They will let you sample anything in the store like Whole Foods ... |
