I'm installing a JavaScript gadget into my website page. Part of the code says . I'm using a content page, so I created Content2 and put it there and it works. that script seems to format the menu. also it does a javascript load of other files if needed. seems like a old menu system i would suggest you replace it with smartmenu.

javascript+ajax is what you're looking for. It has to be done on the client-side, i.e. in the browser, to avoid the intermediary page. Google around and I'm sure you'll be able to find something copy/paste-able

Check your browser settings. Some recent browsers allow you to edit what you see and what you dont see. Things you can edit in your browser control are things like javascript, screen display, text, default css etc.
