Perhaps a bit confusing at this point. jflowers referenced another post that used vmware converter to take an existing windows OS into a vmware session, and that has additional requirements on disk matching. I don't know if cement_head or any others have that specific need. If not, those issues (maybe) shouldn't happen. I have Hardy-64bit 2.6.24-21 with vmware server 116487, and sata drives...

Just like everyone else i acquired a copy of the 6801 build after the PDC. Installed it at school and had no problems what so ever. Went home and tried to do a clean install and BSOD FTL!! Its funny though because it runs and install perfectly fine in VMware. But any way, has anyone else encountered this problem or have a way to fix it? I would love to be...

Hey, I updated the BIOS on my H8QM3-2 (with Barcelona 8356 CPU and onboard LSI 1068E SAS Controller) and ESX won't start, giving me the "mounting root failed" error. Tried starting up with the noapic-option passed to the kernel, the startup freezes at the loading of the "VMkernel mptscsi_2xx.o" module. A reinstallation does not help either as it can not find hard drives. Installing with the ...

Hi all, Having hard time finding the source of a strange problem, I hope you guys can help. Here is the situation: Few days ago I've built a couple of ESX 3.5i servers (latest version available for download), PXE booted / configured, diskless / USB stickless). Connected them to a fresh installation of (fully patched)Microsoft Windows Storage Server configured as an iSCSI target, with 2 LUNs...

I just got done (mostly) with building a new computer from a Barebones kit to replace my Fathers 7 years old Win98 setup. The kit I got for $199 after rebate (I hope) had a Case with 450 watt PS, XFX MG-63Mi-7109 GeForce Socket 775 MB, Pentium D 3.2Ghz Dual core CPU, 3GB Crucial ram, 500GB Seagate Barracuda SATA 2 HD.  I had to add a CPU fan and two case fans for another $50 plus new speakers ...

Maybe this is not the right forum and the problem is also with ESX 3.5.0 U3 build 123630. I'm using ESXi 3.5.0 U3 build 123629 with both local datastore (82801GB/GR/GH ICH7 Family Serial ATA Storage Contoller - IDE) and iSCSI storage. On the iSCSI storage I'm able to install NetWare 5.1 SP7 without a problem. Everything works as expected. But with the local storage (S-ATA) I'm not able ...

I have an installation of openSUSE 10.3 that's been running for quite a while with no problems. Today, I added a new user, and upon doing so, I was asked if I want to disable automatic login. I opted to disable it. This is on a VMware Workstation 6.5 virtual machine with vmware tools installed. Again, this combination has been working for some time, and no upgrades have taken place recently....
