Probably not on the new modem . . . TCP and UDP ports are a software concept. Let's see. Westell 2200 is DSL. Who is your ISP? Verizon? Yes, I see that it is from your IP address. I seem to remember that Verizon uses NAT, just as if you were behind a router, unless you go to some extra steps. Let's start there. Open up a command prompt and type "ipconfig /all" and hit enter. Then go to...

It's overcast. What does that mean? Our 100 dollar a month broadband internet is intermittant, and moving at the speed of smell. I feel so violated. I am 300 feet away from DSL, so that's not an option. Wireless connection sucks, in a pre-cast masonry basement, so verizon wireless broadband isn't a real option. Comcast refuses to connect us unless we pay their cost to trench to our house, ...

Thanks for the replys. 2gig/100 sounds like a good place to start. The docking station sounds like an excellent idea, ease of connectivity is a must. I will have to read up on bluetooth and solid state drives. If I get a wireless card through Verizon, I would drop my dsl hookup. Kind of pricey to have both and I could live with slower speed if I have to, just want to be sure that their plan will...

My ISP (Frontier DSL, was Epix) set a 5gb soft cap a couple months ago. I go over that every month easily. If/when they actually start to enforce it I'm switching to either Verizon or Comcast.

I was at the 3rd level. I am not thrilled that they are 'still' passing on information. They are certainly aware that it's a server problem and they should really be making a public statement and apology regarding the ...

Don't EVEN get me started on Verizon. I'd dump them in a nanosecond if I could! - The first spring after we moved in our home line had noise so bad that it was unusable at times. You literally could not hear a word. It was obviously affected by rain and within a day or two would dry out and work OK. It took them months to fix it and only after I worked my way up the chain of supervisors ...

I am having connection problems in Claremont, CA since two weeks ago, which is becoming very frustrating. It almost always happens in the evenings, between 8 to 11. What happens is that the internet light on the Speedstream 6100F would start flashing and then goes out completely. It then comes back on after anywhere between 30 seconds to more than 10 minutes. Verizon did the line ...

I'm certainly hoping we will have a chance to pre-load the full game. The last thing I want is for the night of the 18th to get here, turn on Steam and discover I had to wait for 2-4 Gb of L4D to download through my slow as snot Verizon DSL.

Thanks for all the answers. I have been testing different things and have found that if I shut down my Webroot before I go online, I have no load problems at all. Still the occasional IE has to close thing though. I cannot find any setting to change in the webroot program to solve the problem. Will it be ok to have it off when on the internet and turn it back on afterwards? I do know if I forget...
