OK folks need your advice. Long story short, after initial painting and pin-striping on my gas tank I decided that the angle the tank when its on the back bone will only allow a certain amount of miles before the fuel gets too low for the petcock. So rather than welding and causing too much heat to go through the paint I used JB Weld to secure a newly made tube to be positioned far lower down ...

Do it right, take the tank to a weld shop and have a new threaded bung welded in. They can probably fill the tank with water and tig weld it with minimal heat damage!

one of the welds on my exhaust is half cracked around, it only opens up when the cars been running and the exhaust tubing is hot. I cant reweld it because I dont have a welder, I do have JB Weld however. my plan is to just put a roll of it around the entire weld to seal and reinforce. right now the exhaust is warm, but not too hot to touch, the seam is open. should I seal it now like that ...

I may have found out the hard way that when wearing a latex glove and applying JB weld to a hot exhaust manifold, the JB weld acts as an utterly superior heat transfer mechanism and you won't be able to get it off no matter how long you dance around like a nancy and violently shaking your hand.

have you tried gluing the original jack back in? My friend and I were very successful at this with while using a paper clip and JB weld! I would dab a little jb on the tip...very little so it doesn't spread out...then hold the original broken jack into the broken piece stuck inside. Since you said there is a little tip sticking out, there should probably be a cavity on the wire jack, which would ...

I repaired the bolts in my father in law's Jeep locking front axle with JB weld like that 10 years ago and it is still good. I also like Bob's idea of just using an SAE bolt. I did that to the oil drain plug on my Arctic Cat ATV two years ago and have had no problems. The Arctic Cat dealer wanted to replace the whole engine case.

Epoxy=glue. Plain and simple. When it boils down to it, it's always glue. Interactions and chemistry always makes it a glue. "Metal reinforced JB Weld"? I thought the standard one everyone is using, including the quick set stuff has steel in it.

JB Weld... That stuff will hold anything... But it's permanent. I would really suggest just bolting it down or using self-tapping screws to hold it in place.
