With the 7.62x39 ammo available as it is now, it's not really worth it. Still, I got myself thousands of the cheap Hornady 123 sp bullets and IMI brass from Wideners. Surplus 147gr .311 bullets can also be used on reloads. Not as cheap and convenient as getting Tiger, Barnaul and Wolf ammo (I got them too) but always good to have when you can. It will probably cost you about $100 more for the...

I have seen people have problems with the 5.56 rounds. The case gets stuck more than a brass case does apparently. Expansion more on the wolf for one reason or another althou I'm not sure about the details or if that plays on a bigger round. This is just what I have watched a few times and heard from friends. I have used it a few times in 7.62x39 and it seemed average in proformance. ...

I have the same problem with my AR. I used clymer head space guages when I chambered it, and it works fine with commercial brass loads. Is there a safe way to lenthen the firing pin protrusion? Or is there another solution?

For unfired brass the price was right as well. Before it was sold out, Widener's stated ...

The general advice that I've seen is: - Wolf pistol ammo is nasty stuff, and many people won't use it. - Wolf AK ammo is perfectly fine, and it (or similar stuff) is what most people buy. I'm not sure about the pistol ammo, but the 7.62x39 is steel-cased, which can be an issue at some ranges (due to recycling) and it means that you can't reload it. Also, the bullets have bi-metal jackets ...

My 5.56/.223 surplus is probably my largest, right now right around 12k rounds mostly brass cased ammo. My m16 is hungry. I used to only keep a few thousand on hand, but I shoot so much, I just started buying ammo by the warehouse. Probably 4k of 7.62x39 , 2k of .308 about 800 rounds of .45 acp, couple thousand 9mm, around 500 .22lr and 612 round of .50 bmg after this mornings shoot. Not to ...

If you must have both inexpensive and super accurate, look at the Finnish Mosin-Nagant rifles, such as the M-39. The action is the same and parts interchange on ALL Mosin-Nagant rifles/carbines no matter who made them or when (91-91/30-M-39-M44-M91/59-Finnish M-29-M39-Chinese M-59, Polish-Chec-Romanian, etc. NOTE - the early M-N actions were octagon, not round, but they still are the same action ...

Scooby, with your question about shooting 5.56 in 223 rifles.. Unless the manufacturer specifically says it ok, dont shoot 5.56 ammo in a 223. With your H&R, it is not approved for 5.56 ammo loads. However, you can use 5.56 brass that is properly sized to 223(slightly different), but you must load it to 223 levels. The 5.56 is also much hotter. Another thing to consider is that mil-...

New to the rifle forum here, hang out sometimes in the shotgun forum however. Question: Regarding Yugo made SKS's, is it true one is in violation if they remove either the bayonet and or the granade launcher? Question: What is the difference/advantage of the 59/66 vs the 59/66A1 ? The Norinco models are mfg new and were never actual military rifles (or surplus), is this correct? Question:...

Handloading and Reloading

One note to add: as for 7.62X39 ammo, if you're only shooting military-type guns and can get a good price on bulk ammo, I wouldn't waste my time with reloading that caliber. Brass and bullets are alot more expensive for rifle, and are slower and harder to load. For the time and $$ spent on rifle, I wouldn't screw with it. That's up to you. Do the math first on the savings. The other thing ...
