Hello, The new PC's I'm looking at, and considering for a future purchase, do not seem to have any Serial connector spigot. My present PC does, and is used for PC control of a short wave reciever I have, which only has a serial connector. Saw some USB to Serial cables at Best Buy, and was surprised to see that they didn't appear to have any electronics for the conversion....

usb to serial adaptor for tactrix cable? My question is do I even need the usb to serial adaptor like mellontuning's website explains if my laptop does not have a serial port? the tactrix cable has a usb connection. I just dont know if it will still transfer data correctly or not.

Hi all, it's been awhile. My girlfriend's sister has an older printer that uses a serial cable, but her new laptop only has USB ports. I've seen some adapters out there but they only support Windows 98, ME and 2000 - she's on Vista. Does anyone know if they'll still work with a Vista machine, or if there is one out there made specifically for a Vista machine. ...
