Having massive problems with my port numbers changing. Now apparantly some USB to serial adapters have unique identifiers to them like printers do so that they get the same com port number no matter the order they are connected in. Anyone know of any that do this? All the cheap prolific and fdti ones I have tried do not and I am having massive ...

I can't find a computer with RS232 ports... checked 2 laptops at work. Will the RS232 to USB adaptor work with Freescan? I'm getting a warning "The system cannot find the specified file".

FVRT100 - Firmware Update Using USB-RS232 Converter?

I'd like to run modified 1.7.8 firmware (better wallpaper, no generate scenes prompt) on my FVRT100 but my Dell Inspiron laptop doesn't have a conventional serial port. Has anyone successfully used a USB-RS232 converter to do this using Iloman's now legendary "How To Update The Fusion Using The Serial Port" doc?

vygis install only on usb-RS232 no com?

hi all, i have a vygis box i istalled it ok but only on USB-RS232 only and can not find it on any com??? this causes problems on flashing as i cant change the baudrate as it blanks out and reverts to 115200 and means a flash takes over 7 hrs any ideas as to why this is the case? why can it not be used on a com like other boxes i have installed???? regards steve

I need a Serial(RS232) to USB adapter

I work with various old pieces of hardware that rely on serial communication. Due to size/budget limitations I will be using a Dell Vostro A90 (aka Inspiron Mini 9) Can anyone recommend a good RS232-> USB adapter? Everything I have read online says "Be careful, some USB adapters are unreliable" but no one recommends a solid brand.
