Hey everyone, I want to get sound from my computer to my Meridian 568.1 in pure digital form, but the computer doesn't have an optical or coax digital output. So I'm looking at a USB to SPDIF converter, but I'm not sure how much I should spend here. Questions: 1. I don't need a DAC at all on the USB converter, correct? So if I find some cheap $15 USB sound card with an optical or coax ...

Also sports I2S, but uses Stello's proprietary connector instead of the more common RJ45 jacks. Just reviewed in 6moons audio reviews: April Music U2. Unfortunately, no direct comparison with the likes of Bel Canto or Empirical Audio. Picture jacked from hifi500.com

I have a USB to SPDIF converter that is supposed to support 5.1 surround. I can hear stereo sound, but not 5.1 surround. I know there are many free tools that enable passthrough on spdif so the receiver does the dedcoding instead of the PC. However windows 7 doesn't see the USB audio device as SPDIF is there a way to configure the USB audio device as SPDIF without drivers? Thanks,...

TBAAM outputs 48 KHz SPDIF only, and my DAC can't swallow anything above 44.1KHz so I'm stuck You're getting a decent ultra-portable USB DAC + amp combo (TTAAM) for any USB>SPDIF 44.1 transcoder ($25 on ****). Optical or TOSLINK doesn't matter, will be re-clocked either way Let me know. Thanks.

No longer need this usb to spdif converter as I switched to vinyl for one of my rigs. Drivers are available from m-audio (just get the latest transit usb drivers). Just looked and looks like they have current drivers for XP, Vista, and working on Win-7 drivers. They currently have downloadable public beta drivers. Package comes with offramp turbo 2, standard wallwart power supply, USB ...

Last I heard from NuForce the HDP has been delayed yet again until the end of December. If the reviews the new UDAC is getting then the HDP will be worth waiting for.

Ok, so I have some older Parasound gear sitting on my desk. Right now I'm driving it by going usb -> D10 Cobra to 3.5mm out to RCA in on the PLD 2000 as an amp. I'd really like to drive it with my DAC 2000 desktop DAC, using my laptop as a source, given that I could then use the balanced interconnects from the DAC to the amp, and I'm thinking that it is probably a better DAC than what's in ...
