Im interested in a fancy Japanese cellphone I want. I already have a SIM card in my T-mobile cellphone. Just wondering if this current SIM card would work with this new Jap cellphone? I heard that they carry this modified chip already inside the phone to make it work. How does it really work? Put both cards together in the slot?

I highly doubt it. Japan is one of the few countries in the world that does not use GSM, as you no doubt have pointed out with the 3G CDMA. Unfortunately, the only CDMA carriers here in the USA, Verizon and Sprint, will NOT activate your phone. so we're meeting DH's family in the US this year and they have asked me to pick them up a prepaid simcard for their phone as they dont want to pay international roaming on their UK simcard. Anyone know which stores sell the best deals on these? Looking for a basic $20 credit simcard - and any ideas which company gives the best coverage?

you can get a prepaid sim, or if you go with t-mobile, you can get a prepaid account but with postpaid pricing and no contract. i think they call it "flex-pay"

You can get T-Mobile/AT&T prepaid SIM cards for voice only on BB's. Most Wal-Marts have them or stop by the carrier outlets near the malls. No data available as far as I know.

I recently purchased a new 8110 from ATT in the US and am currently traveling through southern India.  I was told that once I reached the country I could just put in the new Sim card and then follow the procedures for unlocking the phone.  But when I put in the SIM card I get a message saying invalid card.  In the top right corner it also says "SOS".  Is there anything I can do to unlock...
