Spencerforsale I copied the minutes from the meeting in August where they discuss the current 70mw usage in the region and the lack of need for additional power there. The companies that are building these plants understand this and the following facts. 1. The wind plant is the closest to hitting the grid and is number one on the list. The 100mw plant alone will tax the lines in place in that ...

Fall & Winter RoadTrips

First, you have a choice on how to get from Austin to Vail. The most 'efficient' route (according to Google® Maps) is just north on I-35 to Kansas and then make a left onto I-70 to Vail. A shorter and more interesting route would be to use US-183/US-84 to Abilene and Lubbock, US-87 to Raton, NM, and finally I-25 to Denver and I-70 to Vail. Between Vail and Las Vegas, you'll be on Interstates...

Ride Reports

I love it when a plan comes together. The work schedule (the same work schedule that has kept the odometer on my 2005 ST1300 at embarrassingly low figures) required that I be in Columbus, OH and Saratoga Springs, NY during the same week in late September. My wife’s schedule wanted me to be in Vineland, NJ the following week to be there for my mother-in-law’s back surgery. My personal schedule ...

Friday, May 3, 2002 Chelsea, Michigan We're relaxed this morning, as we no longer have a schedule, and it is, once again, a beautiful morning. Finding a laundromat, we get our dirty clothes turned in to clean ones once more. It was late - 12:20 PM - when we finally pulled out of Chelsea with our next planned stop at Don Damron's Fireside Inn over in Stevensville, Michigan, not far from ...

After that, we headed into Natchez, intending to explore the historic city. But a pouring rain started and drenched us for the afternoon. By the time we checked into a hotel (I wanted to watch the presidential debate that night), we were both done for the day. So that evening ended up just being a time for laundry and relaxation. The next morning, we had a little transportation problem...

Please don’t tell me you plan for the trip of a life time and you are choosing to travel the Interstate system! Don’t you like Americans? The interstates, or as we call them in Southern California, freeways are not the roads to ride a motorcycle on if you want to see America and meet the people. The freeways are designed to move things rapidly from one side of the continent to the ...

Motoring

If you're going to be driving on the "wrong" side of the road, then an automatic is the right way to do it. It helps if you only have to concentrate on the accelerator and brake as well as clutch and gears. Autos are very easy. To select a gear out of Park, you generally need to have your foot on the brake. Mostly you won't require the handbrake (or emergency brake as it's called over here) as ...

Quote: I get home and the damn thing shows only the interstate. Wow, I always thought the base maps were OK. This is the first I have heard of a base map that didn't go down to state highway detail!
