Oct 27 Challenge: Kitchen counters. I know this will be a big one for many mamas, but the pleasure of clear, horizontal space is a great way to begin & very worth the effort... So, take everything off of your counter/island. Make the counters & back-splash look fresh & clean (for some this will be a simple wipe-down, others may need to do a little scrubbing.) As you place things back on...

I'm currently looking to replace the two end chairs from my dining room table. I want to find a couple of upholstered chairs to add some color and interest to the dining room. But don't want to get rid of my current two chairs. I like them and there in good shape. I have two ideas for them, but would like opinions on if they really work or not? One is two use them in the kitchen with our ...

July 2003. After more than two years of suffocating plaster dust, thumping hammers, and hard-hat traffic jams at Nathaniel Rothschild's New York town house, 100 or so friends flock to the West Village for cocktails and exquisitely rendered canapés to see what Nat's done with the place. The furniture is shrink-wrapped in plastic and draped with drop cloths. Actually, the house isn't quite finished...

If your dining room is formal/formal... like REALLY formal, then I'd want them all to match. If you have a more eclectic look, then I could see having a style... or two... with either matching upholstery... or coordinating with a floral and a stripe or something. Or EVEN two upholstered chairs for either end, with the other chairs matching (I kinda' like that look). At that point, I think I'...

Married in 1974, our first home was a one bedroom apartment that was actually four feet below ground level. Our sunken patio was surrounded by three foot hedges so all we could see was the tops of the telephone poles across the street. Our living room consisted of my grandmothers old couch and chair (tastefully upholstered in a pinkish raised fabric that would grind your hide off ...

Ya'll are awesome! bebetokids, THANKS for not making me feel like an idiot!! I knew I saw that! And I'm glad to hear what the end result was...my computer has been down for hours, or I'd have posted sooner. The thing is, I have my grandmother's dining room furniture (from the '50s) and it has kind of a green-y or celery cast to it...and upholstered chairs (that are heavy beyond belief). The ...

I apologize for the bad quality of the photos & the length of the post. Please hang with me - I need you, I need you!! Since I have a few issues I will # them... 1. Painted an old Duron color Ardmore green - actually had 2 gallons from previous house. I really like the color alot with the floors, tile, & cabinets. 2. Used an enhancer/sealer on tile - Do you see any improvement? I tried to...
