undescended testicle - message boards

Undescended Testicle...weird question, I know but please help??

At my LO 2 month check up today the doctor said he could not find one of his testicles. The doctor seemed very nervous about it and scheduled him for a sono....has anyone heard of this?? I am so scared!! When I asked if it was serious the doctor mumbled a few words but all I heard was cancer and then he said it is something that shouldn't be overlooked?? Please help!!

My son is 19 months. The ped. discovered this at his last appointment. He doesn't seem to be in any pain with it. They don't know if it was always that way or if it retracted because she didn't notice it on prior examinations. We have an appointment scheduled with a specialist. Has anyone experienced this with their baby boy, or know someone who has? DS has one undescended testicle and according to the paediatric surgeon, he will require surgery if it has not come down by six months I'm interested to hear any stories.

My just turned 1 year old just had an ultrasound that confirmed an undescended testicle. For those that have dealt with this, what is the safest amount of time that we can wait to see if it descends on its own? What is the surgery like? This is my 1st post here. I'm a Mom to boy/girl twin 30 weekers who were born via c-section due to placental abruption. I'm hoping someone might have some experience about an undescended testicle. Did it come down on its own after a certain amount of time?? Did you have to have surgery. DS is only 4 weeks adjusted but I'm hoping one of these days it will just appear:) Thanks!
