The word cult did not always have a negative connotation. All I attached was in Wiki. Interesting read to say the least. Quote: Cult typically refers to a cohesive social group devoted to beliefs or practices that the surrounding population considers to be outside the mainstream, with a notably positive or negative popular perception.[ citation needed ] The ...

quote: Why the hesitation? I'm sure you can make an educated guess on the subject. The hesitation is that I'm sure I can't. It could have gone quite a lot of different ways, but it's moot because it went the way it went. quote: Understood. I see you wrote that, but I don't think you do understand it, and the implications of it. quote: The responsibility for that falls squarely on...

Notice how the N.Y.Times didn't waste any space in this article discussing the virtues of public schools or charter schools in D.C. And what it could mean if the new President sent his children to one of them. I'll add a paragraph here... Public schools are also being considered for the children, as Chancellor Rhee handed Mrs. Obama the policies and graduation success rates in the ...

It seems to me that you read my post very carefully. I apologize that I have snipped a big part of your reply, regarding the origin of rights in the individual or the state. We have to snip something, right? It seemed to me to be leading off-topic. I deal with all that 9/11 stuff in the first two sections, but be assured that I did read it. Quote: ...

> We have seen this scene before in other countries and when the control of money becomes severe then political repercussions are explosive...if these wars and foreclosures continue, AIPAC will become an issue and a target. Religion began when the first scoundrel met the first fool.' a- Voltaire

>>Can you use that instead of the snow flake? ;-) ps I lost that colage post. I was speed reading and I thought it was in a separate thread... can you re-post it here? Don't be shocked when these don't get a comment. More often than not, I go straight to the link and often neglect to mention it... too many posts at times to respond! Esp. on the View board.

First of all, welcome to DU and thanks for the thoughtful response. Second, I have been and probably still am inclined to agree with you about the word "marriage" being the hot button. Strategically if we could get equal marriage rights nation-wide under the rubrick "civil union" that would be better than pushing for something purely on a semantic level and possibly succeeding in a few places ...

This came in my mail this morning. It shows that more than "marriage" is at stake with 8. Families of the GBLTQ communities are affected too. It's something that I don't think a lot of people on these boards have thought about. The press release is lengthy but worth reading. From: Meredith Fenton Subject: Youth and Adults with LGBTQ Parents Speak OUT against Proposition 8 For ...

I tried posting this yesterday and it wouldn't go through. It came in my E-mail yesterday and It explores a side of 8 that I don't think that many have considered as they want to restrict rights of the GBLTQ portion of society. It's lengthy but worth reading. I've redacted the distribution list and some phone numbers. From: Meredith Fenton Subject: Youth and Adults with LGBTQ Parents ...

Quote: Posted by Sally TSKD Well, I see no particular reason why a strong woman with a supportive husband (who has a job unconnected with politics) and a young family shouldn't be just as appealing to the electorate as a man with the same profile. I don't either, but I don't observe any of the main parties in the UK picking one, or even ...
