After a fiddle, this program successfully recovered my partition I deleted from XP. The file I created was there too. http://www.cgsecurity.org/wiki/TestDisk (Handy freeware program)

hi everyone i used the shrink volume in vista 32 last night so i wanted to do another one.when it was done it said 74gb unallocated so im in alot of need for some help.I guess my Qis how to get rid of that or recover it help please.

If it is the unallocated section, it was deleted... You can use programs to recover it, but the only ones that I know of cost money.

Do a parallel install of Vista to the partition you had XP installed to and use it to recover your data and then wipe the malfunctioning vista partition. Actually thinking on it; I think your problem may be that you deleted the partition rather than just deleting its contents. thecreator, I did what you said exactly. I reformated and reinstalled Windows XP from the SlipStream XP CD. I don't know how but now I have just one disk drive (C that is 320 GB). Then i use Active @ Partition Recovery program and i saw my data that was on the deleted partitions When i wanted to recover this data it gave me a warning since i did not have any free disk space...
