Ok, I am pretty ignorant on this subject, so please spare me some smart ass comments. When I got my type rating at the US airline I worked, I didn't have to do any flights in the actual aircraft since it was a Level D sim. (CRJ200). Can you still do this under JAA? I am trying to avoid the need to find an appropriate airplane for the base check, if Level D allows me to get the full type rating...

Here is a pretty good question that has me a bit stumped. I have a acquaintance that has a King Air and would like me to fly with him in the right seat. He is single pilot certified in the aircraft and is taking me along to introduce me to the world of turbine flying. If I perform well there may be an opportunity for me to fly with him on somewhat regular basis and possibly be hired by his ...

Just thought I'd pass it along, for Dec. they are doing a special at AeroService in Miami for a 737-300 type for $3500. I guess it's to keep some $ coming in rather than the sim idleing since the month is slow with the holidays and all. They will know on Monday what the next class date is, probably between the 17th and 22nd to start. X-mas off, and it's 12 days long total. There's a ...

I have 330hrs in a C-208 on an ICAO CPL and want to get the C-208 onto my JAR fATPL. From what I can gather from the LASORS I either have to have 500 hrs on type and take a flight test or complete a course of training in accordance with JAR FCL and take a flight test within 6 months of taking the course. Can anyone confirm that I've got this right or am I missing something. 500 hrs seems a ...

Alright, so I have a guy who needs an SIC type rating in a CE-500 to go on a part 91 personal flight in a CE-560 (it's for an insurance requirement). The owner of the aircraft is an ATP typed in citations but he is not a flight instructor. The guy in need of the SIC type has 3 takeoff and landings and the other flight requirements listed in 61.55 (b)(2) in citations. My questions are.......

Simcom in Orlando, half the price of all the others, in fact, 4 day recurrent at FSI Farnborough is more expensive than 15 day initial in Simcom. I did my initial there in 2006 and found it to be just as good as FSI and CAE, which I have also attended.

Since your flight school is not a JAR-OPS 1 operator and does not have an approved arrangement with a JAR-OPS 1 operator then it cannot gain approval for ZFTT under JAR-FCL 1 and it will be necessary for its graduates to complete the required training in the aircraft in order to gain a type rating. The term 'base check' does not exist in JAR-FCL 1; the training requirement, assuming that the...

If it's being rated for content, that means it's relatively close to release. That's not necessarily so. The OFLC and the ESRB have rated games for the Virtual Console on Wii that weren't released until years (literally) afterwards.
