I will be visiting Sanibel/Captiva for 4 days in early March and have narrowed down my choices of where to stay to either the Tween Waters inn on Captiva or the Sanibel Inn on Sanibel. Looking to stay at the place that will give me the best all around resort experience. Both are priced the same, although I could get a poolside room at the Tween Waters for a bit less per night. Thanks much for all of the great advise! I am currently leaning towards the Tween Waters and requesting the gulf view rooms as recommended. It is currently the exact same price at $150.00 per night as the Sanibel Inn, but includes the breakfast, so seems like a better bargain. There is no availability at the West Wind and Casa Ybel is $375+ per night, so a bit out of my price range. Not...

Have you looked into the 'Tween Waters Inn website? There are a lot of cottages pictured there. One of my favorites is the Teddy Roosevelt, it's a large picture on the site -- Gulf-front, brick fireplace, rocking chair, very rustic and yet contemporary with all the comforts.

There are some really beautiful cottages at Tween Waters Inn. The Gulf front cottages are located across a small two lane road from the beach. They are pretty close to Captiva Drive and really don't afford you a view because they are level with the road. The sand slopes gently to the waters edge, so you would mostly see vegetation.
