tubeless tires with tubes are fine. The problem is if the tire is a Radial you need the use tubes made for Radials. Radial tires run hotter and radial tubes are made to handle the added heat. When you mount a tubeless tire with a tube check the inside for rough edges that could rub a hole in the tube.

Back to the top for this old thread... So I thought I would post up again today on my old thread here, a little of a long-term update. It turned to winter real quick here about three weeks ago in Park City, but out of the wood work high pressure for 10 days+ and fall weather returns so I am still riding including today. I'm still high on riding from yet another sick day so I thought I'd post...

To reiterate, this is the first run proto, only frame of it's kind right now. This first batch will be merely a test run just like any other companies first run proto's. The entire frame was handmade by FTW in the VT "factory" and will be a handmade production frame here in VT. The frame comes in right now at 8lbs with rear shock. The build that you see in the pic is right around the ...

I have run all types of tubeless set ups since 2000 when they were born, UST, Stan's, and Ghetto. Honestly the True tubeless rims(Mavic) are more reliable.  However, I currently have a set of Stan's 355's with just yellow tape, no rubber strip and they do pretty well.  The bead lock was very positive, no burps yet (fingers crossed).  I have always run sealant.  Not just Stan's but ...

I've been a proponent of tubeless mountain bike tires for oh.... at least 6 years now because of the lack of rolling weight, lack of flats, and the increased psi/traction ratio compared to tubes. I can not see how this system could be different from the attributes of the mtb system. In fact, the biggest misinformation about tubeless is that you can run lower pressures. That may be so, but ...

This is purely hog wash. 1. Pure nitrogen from bottle is moisture free so that the psi will not vary much compare to air. But you are not driving at 200mph like NASCAR, which can make a handling change with tire pressure as little as 0.2 psi. There is no effect at freeway speed even with 2-3 psi variation. 2. To fill it with pure nitrogen, it requires to pull vacuum of the tire. Tubeless ...

I am looking to get some suggestions on a lightish wheels/tires for an AM frame I just bought. I live in the PNW and ride alot of everything, from xc, to technical trails with lots of roots/rocks, and some singletrack. I don't ever take drops over 3', but the wheels will definately take some punishment. And, I do ride a fair amount in wet weather. The frame has 6" of shock in the front and ...

When I got my Redline D460 recently, I decided I should try tubeless. I got the Stan's kit for these rims, followed the directions for these rims (including adding weather stripping and tape to help fill the giant center chanel), and got the Maxxis Ignitors to bead up and hold air nicely with two scoops of sealant with a floor pump. Horray for me! Then, on my third ride, running the tires at ...
