Question I am replacing rear drum pads on my '92 Chevy truck. Usually when I do something like this I dismantle the one side and I have the other side for reference when I go to put it back together. I wasn't real careful when I took brakes apart and can't exactly remember where all the springs attach. My problem is that the other side is missing the self adjuster and spring so I'm not sure ...

those wheel cylinders are notorious for freezing up or leaking. If you are getting fluid flow to them, then i bet they are frozen. If your truck is that old with that few miles check the shoes to make sure they are not cracked, glazed, chuncked or seperating from the lining. Drum brakes are cheak to rebuild. I bet you can buy all new parts for both sides for about $100.

"Hi Steve, I thought you may have recognized the car from PY, Bill E. over there. Yes I've upgraded the whole front end without subframing the car. I used 58 Pontiac control arms-with ball joints, the lowers bolted right up to the 55 frame and made a mount for the upper. I have a shim adjustment now instead of the upper pivot adjuster plus I built in some anti dive and increased the caster ...

posting for a friend , he's got a 2005 chevy 1500 - had rear drum brakes from the factory , well we just swapped in a 14 bolt and ditched the rear drum in favor of disk brakes( plain old gm calipers/d44 rotors) . now it's all under the truck and drivable but the petal goes almost to the floor,, still stops but way down near the floor. i'm thinkin that we need to swap the matser cyl. out for ...

We've got a Venture trailer with around 56 rollers & galvanized steel frame. Works fine but I second the idea of the disk brakes. My drum brakes (after 10 years have gotten kind of sticky, that is they grab and lock up once in a while). Having brakes on all 4 wheels is good as well (it is really required in some states). If you only have 2 and they are on the front they can bcome unweighted ...

Like most of my cars getting round to introducing myself on the hamb has taken a while. I have a huge level of expertise in taking cars apart, not much knowledge of putting them together again though! I have two projects, a 66 Volvo Amazon sled, and a 53 GMC panel truck. The truck is currently without a front end, as I have had to strengthen the front clip. Someone in the States put what I ...
