Too bad the Trek demo day got cancelled (rain) - that would have been a great opportunity for you to try both. Ride them both a few times if you can. I like the hardtail 29er b/c generally they are lighter/stiffer and will accelerate faster. I notice I can put in a lot less effort when rolling through the trail. I'd go 16 or 17. Unfortunately the nicer girly bikes (Specialized Myka or Trek 4300WSD) have lower end components than you'd find on a similarly priced man's bike. But depending on the type of riding you plan on doing, they might be perfect. I'd still recommend used, then upgrade to suit. |

ALRIGHT GUY'S TODAY I HAVE ONE OF MY OLD BIKES. The 720 and 520 are completely different bikes. The 720 is a classic road tourer. I built one up for a friend a few years back, it was a beautiful frame and I'd love to find another one for myself. The 520 is made with mountain bike tubing and components. It's not as pretty but is a much more heavy-duty bike. You can take it anywhere, including a lot of places you'd not want to take a ... |
