Cannie ... my journey is the same as that of the many wonderful women on this board who have battled being overweight (and will continue to battle it the rest of our lives). The difference for me is that I have never been a binge eater. I just ate the wrong things all the time. Even when I was eating "healthy" it was portion sizes that were too big and cheese sauce and so forth. And ...

Replying to: New Year's Challenge Update 1 - I've come up with some healthy side dishes to take to the 2 thanksgiving dinners I must attend. So that goal is met so far - I just need to stick to eating the healthy alternatives. 2 - The week after Halloween I fell off the wagon eating Halloween candy. I have a problem/opportunity. I am a hockey player. I recently hurt my left shoulder pretty bad off the ice, and I've been skating through it. Compensating for it, I hurt the other one this weekend. I've been a serious athlete since high school. And now I can't do any upper body training with static lifting because of the irritation it causes my shoulders. However I still swim and...

I had an induction at a new gym today (first gym I have been to that have free weights, shocking I know) and I had with one of the fitness instructors and he designed me a program. I told him that I wanted to do a 4day split training each muscle group twice. He came up with a front of body/back of body routine, I thought a push/pull routine would be better but he should know more than me. ...

free weights and machines, iv been told that free weights are better to use but are machines all bad, should i stay completely away or is it good to have a mixture? im aiming to build clean muscle, iv got my diet sorted and have been training a while using free weights would it be helpfull to introduce some machines aswell to help with form?
