It might be to do with over-testing - it might also be to do with toys and parents and sugar and modern day life. I can't help but notice how so many children's toys nowadays seem to need less imagination than did toys in the 70s, or 60s - let alone at the turn of the 20th century. I think this is partly down to technology - electronic games now provide too much of the story line and...

The press want it more, obviously. If you get paid to talk about stuff, then the more stuff you have to talk about the better. I hope we see longer lifespans of current gen consoles. The last one was shortened by Microsoft who essentially wanted to rebrand the Xbox and gain market share over Sony's inevitable PS3. Sony had to follow suit.
