I carry a pair of DMT Duo-Fold sharpeners in my back pocket all the time. One is Extra-Coarse/Coarse, the other is Fine/Extra-Fine. Between them, I can do anything from a quick touch up to a complete rebevel anywhere. The handles provide an excellent grip while keeping your fingers away from the sharp stuff.

Delta 1x42 belt sander with a 80x belt will clean up anything RIGHT NOW. I got a cold chisel to shave. After that, it's an old Craftsman lawnmower stone. Feels about 50 grit, leaves teeth like a hacksaw.

There is no one way of making an HDR in PSE but there are many possibilities of playing around with layers, masks and blending modes to achieve different results. Here is one way of doing it for your images, I will be blending 2 images (the first 2 you posted). First, download and install free Hidden Power tools from here: http://hiddenelements.com/elements6_tools.php . Version for PSE6 will ...

M 1 - Contents, Survival Tips & Guidelines (Printed on Waterproof Paper). This item is just a primer to help focus someone on the task in hand. It is not intended to be a survival manual, but a survival organizer which may help someone to prioritize their objectives in an otherwise confusing situation. It is also flammable if you cannot find tinder anywhere else. If you'd like to read it, you ...

Yup. It's message like this that taught me to look closer at when and how sharpening is applied, even though at that time I didn't understand or appreciate why (as a simple example). My personality is such that I find work-arounds that satisfy, while folks such as yourself petition the powers that be to obviate the need for such [g]. So I'll use Levels in Ap if I don't want or need to take...

This camera has allowed me to leave my DSLRs and macro in the bag for a lot of shots. I do wish the LX3 had a tilt LCD though, I misfocussed on a few and will have to take them over. Still, here is a simple, non-artsy documentation sorta closeups work of a 1960 Les Paul JR before it's paint job. Here are a few shots. Shot JPG and resized in silkypix since that's the RAW converter I ...

Thanks for starting this thread! I am loving all the tips and pointers here. I have a question for any professional photogs out there, or anyone who shoots lots of images per session for that matter. Does anyone have advice on a general sharpening action that can be easily automated/batched when you need to quickly process tons of images and put them out on the web for client proofing? A ...

I was reading another thread where it was mentioned that they would like to see more pointers about being on the trail/hiking/etc. For newbies (though there may be a nugget or two in here for veterans) to hiking/camping, here's my "Hiking Packing Basics 101." I swear, I'm not from the "Food Saver" company, but I have found so many uses for it that they should totally pay me as a spokesman....

I had a coupon in my pocket and they had one left in stock, for 67 bucks how bad could it be? Turns out it's not bad at all. Sure, it's cheap and chintzy and you have to be careful with setup, but it cranked up and ran fine out of the box and can produce a decent edge fairly quickly. Not a superb edge mind you, but one that a few passes on a hard arkansas stone can finish up ...
