My little monkey started climbing out of his crib at 11 months. I walked in one night just in time to catch him from falling on his head! After a couple days of too many close calls, his ped told us it'd be safer to move him to his toddler bed than risk a head injury. I hate it. He climbs in and out all night. He's 15 months now and we've had maybe 3 full nights of sleep since the switch. I...

I'm in no rush to move my 17 month old out of his crib. I think it would take some work getting him to stay in his bed. We moved our daughter to a toddler bed at 21 months and had several sleepless nights due to the transition. I give both spoons and forks to my 17 month old and 14 month old. They both usually make an effort to use them intermittently throughout the meal. I help them a...

Connor is 2 1/2 and still in his crib.... he never tries to climb out, and he loves his crib. My SIL's daughter started climbing out of her crib at 1 1/2, so they got her a toddler bed right away. So of course now my MIL is driving me crazy to get a bed for Connor...but he doesn't want one right now. I showed him cool car beds, but he's not interested. I think by his 3rd b-day he'll be in a ...

My daughter was really good about staying in the toddler bed. She had been climbing out of the crib, so we decided to move her. We were afraid she would fall and hurt herself. For some reason, she loved her toddler bed and didn't have any problem with staying in it. Chip has been sleeping in a portable crib and at 8 months, it is way to small for him, so I just ordered him a regular...

Replying to: ? for those with 2+ We're thinking of buying a portable crib to keep in our room and then move into the boys room when we're ready to have a baby free bedroom. They aren't nearly as expensive as a full size crib. I'm in no hurry to get DS out of his crib too soon. He has no interest in climbing out of it and sleeps very well in it. He'll be 23 months when this baby comes ...

I put DS in a toddler bed (a train) around his second birthday, because he was climbing out of the crib. He did just fine with the transition. We keep a doorknob cover on the inside of his door, so he can't get out and wander around. My room is right next to his (I sleep separate from DH because he snores and I'm a very very light sleeper, not to mention pregnant with twins and uncomfortable and...

I think it depends on the child. I would leave my baby in the crib until they started climbing out or, where too big for it. For Miranda that happened at 16 months. I walked in her room one morning and she was straddling the bar over the edge. At that point I wasn't willing to risk her hurting herself climbing out of her crib so I just switched it into a toddler bed. She did great with the ...

If he's doing okay, and not climbing out, than by all means, keep him in the crib! We had to put Gabriel in a toddler bed, only because he showed us how he could climb in/out, and wouldn't stay put. To make it worse, he never stays put in his room now, so we have to take precautions to lock, put stuff up before heading to bed to protect all of us since he does get up and wander around. Enjoy ...

Climbing out of the crib? Lisa Lewis, Parenting Magazine When 2-year-old Anna Le-Nguyen started climbing out of her crib in the middle of the night, her mom knew it was time for a change. "We were afraid she was going to hurt herself," says Melissa, of Oakland. Generally, toddlers will move to a real bed between 2 and 3 years of age. Climbing out of the crib is one sign; another ...
