I guess there are different schools of thought on the barbell bench press. Long ago my trainer told me only bring the barbell down till your arms are at 90 degress to your chest. Taking it down all the way to your chest only works more back and triceps - not the pecs. I see more people taking it all the way down and when I talk to trainers I gert frustrated because there are different ...

If you have a bench and a barbell plus a sh1tload of weights, that's all you really need in order to make progress. (That's all I have, too, BTW, although I have a squat stand as well, and that should be a must for home trainers or a cage, if you have the room). As has been suggested, at first, do a full-body routine, if for no other reason than to familiarize yourself with the compound lifts ...
