well, after 4 years of wrenching, grinding and whatnot, i've decided that my buick needs a better home. it's a '56 special, 2 door post. it's had it's side trim shaved and nosed, and painted a metallic gunmetal. it needs a floor. it's been cut out, and it's where i'm at. the motor runs, but needs a fuel filter and a carb tune, and the brakes need to be done (have rebuild kits for all 4 ...

And there you go. Wow I fine it had to believe that they had more spline than the pontiac/ olds drop out...BUT...for now this is all we have. I would think 29 -31 as I know the 62 63 have 29 ish. Jim

does anyone know the number of splines on a 1956 rear axle? also number of splines on a 1964 riv rear axle? changing rear axle or 3rd member on my 1956. The carriers measure out the same. I still need to measure the dept and see if the spline are the same , I can turn down the 64 axles to use the 56 bearings if the axle length is the same between the 64 and the 56 axles. I changed my mind on ladder bars decide to go with triangulated 4 bar rear suspension stay with coils that I had made frome Detroit Spring. I will be swaping as many of the factory brackets that I can reuse. Found a set of new TCI bars ordered bushings from Summit, brackets from Paul horton welder series and Real Products LLC. Found formula on internet for figuring RPM at 60to 65 with Turbo 400...
