Hello, presently we have one ESX 3.0.2 -Host managed via Virtual Infrastructure Server 2.0.2. Now we need more, namely 3, host servers, which are already lying in our server room. All of them equipped with 2 Quadcore CPUs as the first one for a total of 8 CPUs then. The goal is to get all 4 servers with their respective 8 CPUs under one management. Features like HA, VMotion etc. are not...

My wife's Pavilion is a 752n. 2.0 GHz P4, so it probably is a bit slower than yours. (My previous computer was home-built, with a 1800+ Athlon. It seemed comparable in speed to my wife's Pavilion. I've used Orthos in the past for stability/temperature testing, but Orthos doesn't support quad-core CPU's (only single/dual-core). If you get a new copy of Prime95, I believe that they introduced native support for quad-core CPUs. If you use their built-in stability tests, those will probably get your CPU as hot as it's capable of getting (or near enough for your purposes).

I vote for the power supply. If yours is 5 years old, it is time to replace it anyway. If the interior of the computer has not been kept clean of heat- trapping dust, and your problem is the result of overheating, then sadly, the damage has already been done if the symptoms are seen at startup, presumably after the computer has cooled down again. Either way, heat is the bane of all electronics so ...

excellent memories, great review, but at best very promising numbers: it is amazing how every single post of memory(criminal/yoko aside, of course- yoko is one of the best memory tweakers in the net) in Xtremsystems focus on E-penis numbers instead of real life best performance setups. on jan/2008 Anandtech published a seminal article on Intel memory timings and options: http://www.anandtech....

Yes, I have Temperature Monitor installed on my machines, excellent piece of software, very helpful. In reading over on the UNIX forum about ioreg I read threads discussing the detailed trial-and-error testing that has to be done to figure out all the scale factors in getting a temperature from the sensors. Your mention the numbering of the CPUs starts from the top (ie. CPU A...

Hi Guys. I got this CPU I want to give one more year (or two) of gaming life. It is a AMD 4800+ X2 at 2.4Ghz G3 Stepping. At stock values the Core Temp (HWMonitor) is 22-25º under load. At 2.9Ghz it hits the 28º. No voltage was messed up. Still at 1.328v. After a night testing and benchmarking (3dmark06 went from 8200 to 9770)...
