TBI 454 to Vortec 454 Swap I've got a 95 Chevy truck with the TBI 7.4 engine. Runs good but I know the Vortec motors run even better. I've found a good deal on a complete parts truck with the Vortec 7.4 engine. I would like to put this in my 95. I'm sure some of you have done this swap. Was it pretty much bolt in place ...

All in all it should all just swap over. The 95 TBI 454s ran a higher fuel pressure (30 PSI IIRC), but the vortecs are running higher than that, so you would need the vortec pump. You may want to keep the A/C configuration in mind as the compressor is on the opposite side on the vortec. I don't know if this will cause any problems or not. Also, the vortec exhaust is set up differently as ...

1998 Vortec swap to 1994 w/tbi question I have a 1994 Chevy 350 pickup with a tbi with a blown motor and I have a 1998 chevy suburban with vortec and wiring harness. My question is how hard would it be to swap over to the vortec wiring harness and all? has any one done it or know of any one thats done it?...

I have not spent much time looking at the electrical/electronics of a '98 Vortec; however, I have spent a serious amount of time reviewing pre-'96 SBC controls. Since you have the '98's harness, life will be easier--pull the TBI engine and engine wiring harness, and replace with the Vortec engine and wiring harness. You didn't say which trans you have in the '94--that will need to be addressed....
