Anyone know if I can use another touchpad driver, this synaptics driver is crap. The CPU jumps up to 100% every time I use the scroll.

Yeah I did that. It's just the driver. I don't think it likes IE 7 and Firefox, or Opera. Thanks guys for all the help. I just need a new PC.

I was looking to install the Synaptics Touchpad driver on my Inspiron 2650. On the Dell driver download page there are driver versions and after that a Axx number (which I guess are bios versions). The page below shows the available Dell drivers for STP. http://support.dell.com/support/down...&osl=en &os=WW1 Question: Are driver versions dependent on bios versions ie if I am ...

Thanks for your reply mjc. What it looks like to me too. It's weird because even the drivers for the graphics cards are so labelled but the one currently installed on this laptop by Dell is the 29.63 which allegedly is for bios A13. Thanks for your input. Cheers

Hello again, here is my xorg.conf: The only thing I have modified is adding the composite extension and the modeline to get 1280x768. Code: # /etc/X11/xorg.conf (xorg X Window System server configuration file) # # This file was generated by dexconf, the Debian X Configuration tool, using # values from the debconf database. # # Edit this file with caution, and see the /etc/X11/xorg....

I have a Toshiba a205-s5000 running vista 32 bit. In the past I have been able to click on the touchpad icon at the bottom of the screen and adjust the touchpad settings. now when I click on it it shows a mouse not the touchpad. somewhere I read to get the updated drivers at Synaptics.com when I tried it said I have the latest driver. You have to set 'SHMConfig' 'true' in xorg....

Hi, I have installed Mandriva 2009 on my Acer Aspire 5100 laptop. Found the distro really nice. I have installed GNOME as my default dm. However when I log into my default user account - "Aditya", the cursor gets stuck up in the middle of the screen. But if I log into the same account using IceWM as the dm, there is no problem with the cursor. The cursor is mobile even if I log into GNOME as ...
