I attempted to install the new Synaptics drivers on my SR, the one with ChiralMotion. They appeared to install just fine, but after I rebooted, the "Device Settings" tab in the mouse driver didn't appear. I've tried manually running the software, tried uninstalling and reinstalling, tried older drivers including the one from the Sony website...the touchpad works just fine, but I can't do ...

i disabled system restore to make my laptop faster, more battery efficient, and save hdd space windows' system restore is kinda useless in my opinion... i never liked it

Yeah I did that. It's just the driver. I don't think it likes IE 7 and Firefox, or Opera. Thanks guys for all the help. I just need a new PC.

Thanks for your reply mjc. What it looks like to me too. It's weird because even the drivers for the graphics cards are so labelled but the one currently installed on this laptop by Dell is the 29.63 which allegedly is for bios A13. Thanks for your input. Cheers
