But they needed more depth and weight to play Sondheim's version of the story, which is -- after all -- the version about which we are speaking. If Sondheim had wanted Sweeney to be barely 30, he would have had to have married and fathered Joanna when he was about 12.

Firstly, ignore anything the above poster has said. She is crazy (I've ignored her so I don't know what she said, but I guarantee you it doesn't make sense or is about racism or something :P). So from now I'll just take 'Libretto' meaning 'score'....

Hello! This is Cecilia's first poll here in the Awards Daily Forums. You may remember me from my scathing commentary on the WGA's nomination and voting history during the 2007 race (particularly being one of the few to accurately predict Atonement's Best Adapted Screenplay snub.) I thought I would start my polling by taking a look at one my favorite categories, that is rarely considered, Best ...

Okay, I just watched the part when Anthony barges into the shop and asks Sweeney if he can bring Joanna there for a few hours before they run away together. Sweeney and Lovette both realize that Joanna is Sweeney's daughter, and she tells him to go ahead and bring her there. After that Sweeney still seems unhappy, and Lovette says "what is it? you'll have her back before the day is out" then ...
