Glad you and big olds came out relatively unscathed. I had my brakes go out on my old suburban like this. I just used the emergency brake to get home on. I just held the release handle for the emergency brake open, and used the emergency brake pedal like a regular brake. Got me from Seattle to Monroe...about 40 miles with no problems. Just had to hunch over a little to accomplish this...Saved me ...

Gare de Lyon (underground) accident. June 27, 1988 A passenger pulled the emergency brake on a delayed suburban train outside Gare de Lyon. While releasing the brakes, the driver of the train made a grave mistake, and the train continued but nearly without functional brakes. In the downward slope to the under ground part of the Gare de Lyon station the train ran away due to the ...

Chapter 2: Kamen Rider * The being threw a punch at the first thugs chest, making him fly off several feet and land hard on the floor. His companions half-heartedly tried to attack the being in response. The being simply grabbed the one on his left by the arm and palmed him dead-on in the face, then used the same arm to elbow the other hard in the abdomen. Still holding onto ...

We've been looking to buy a second vehicle for some time. DesertRoomie is being groomed to be a manager for the gas station/convenience store chain she's working for and that means she needs to be able to have the flexibility to get to any store in the district she's in (about fifteen miles square) at any time; manager's spell each other and fill in if there's some sort of emergency. ...

Hello all. It's been a while! Nice to see some familliar faces.. er... screen names still prowling the halls. I recently had a run in with my 1973 Econoline E-300 that I figured you'd all like to read about. I added some, shall we say, literary flourishes, but there is no creative license- everything happened as told. On with the story- It all started about a month and a half ago. I ...

Today was a historic day, my Aura XR passed the 10,000 mile mark. We bought the car in November of 2006. It has been an eventful year and a half of ownership. This is in the media term, a long term verdict. ( Picture of when it was brand new) (what the interior looked like brand new) When I first saw the production car from the NY Auto Show, I knew I wanted this vehicle to be my ...

Not even close chump! Comparing Bush and Hoover on the Economy It may seem premature to compare President George W. Bush to Herbert Hoover, the president who helped steer the economy into the Great Depression in 1929, and then presided over steady economic deterioration until the end of his term in 1933. After all, the current economic downturn under President Bushs watch hasnt even ...

James Howard Kunstler Author of The Long Emergency Oct 7, 2008 God knows what manner of deals went down this past weekend in the Hamptons wine cellars and below-decks among the Chesapeake Bay sailboat fleet. All these hidey-holes must have been dank and fetid with the sweat of mortal fear. Will the US Government declare itself a subsidiary of General Electric? Will Vlad Putin be roped ...

I'm a lazy bitch so I have to finish transcribing part 2 this weekend. Anyhow, I sat down and chatted with Steve and he has a lot of interesting shit to say.....hope you enjoy. If you don't, you can treat yourself to a steaming bowl of go fuck yourself. It's difficult to accurately describe the unique vibe of Melrose Ave. It's as if every conceivable sub-culture ...
