Is there a way to prevent a user from 'stealing' an IP address by setting it statically? e.g., I had a user that had set their IP as static (192.168.1.117), and within the DHCP pool (100-130), and they were not denied access nor did the smoothie's DHCP server complain. I caught it early, and I can't see any problems from logs, but I did have another user that was unable to connect to the ...

i guess i've been lucky not to get robbed or jumped yet. somebody tried stealing money out of my full tilt account once though. luckily on there you can see what ip addresses have logged in on your name and i got it all back after like a 3 or 4 week investigation since i have a good bit on money on there.

Assuming you have a different password for accessing the network (WPA) and changing settings on the router, would using the IP address authorisation function stop people from 'stealing' bandwith (that is, by specifying which IP addresses you will allow on the network - not using DHCP)
