Dear all, I'm running Windows 7 enterprise on my HP Compaq 8710w and I'm experiencing a serious problem with my audio. Problem starts with the fact that HP decided not to support my laptop on Windows 7. Meaning I must rely on Windows Update for all drivers. This was no problem, everything runs great. I have a number of Ibm Z pro 9228 and they use pretty much the same audio chipset. IBM is also balking at creating a driver. I'm guessing there's something out there that might work. What I did do was install the windows xp drivers. (on 1st install it said it didn't work and asked if I wanted to run it again with recommended settings and then it worked.) I'm in the same boat. I've tried installing Win7-64 Pro and Win7-32 Pro to both T3400 and T3500 Workstations. On every account, the Microsoft driver is installed and I can get audio through headphones, but not the internal system speaker. Thanks for the help. I found that realtek drivers work with my SoundMax HD Audio so I might get that after trying the newer Win 7 Version of my SoundMax. I also found a Realtek made 3D Sound Back program that should restore effects, I'll see what that'll do. Thanks a lot 10TaTioN for taking the time to find something for me.
