( "A DPF "up to temp"?" Fair call. I know very little. The one I've seen has some little cats near the header and some big ones under the floor. That is just about the full extent of my knowledge about diesel cats, all I really know is they get in the way of 'my' suspension and fuel tank.   , )

Aloha EV, I'd take a basic sailing class in small boats and then make the decision about big or small for learning. My recommendations for ocean crossing is 32-35 feet LOD, cutter, fiberglass, aft cockpit and diesel engine. regards,

There are no diesel C's in Canada. The C-class model lineup here has the same models as the US, plus the C250 - a C-class with a small engine. btw, people that tell u that Mercedes is for old people are people that regret sitting behind the wheel of an A4.

for sheer availabilty and knowledge, Yanmar is the best , fitted to moat european production boats. Beta makes a good engine , but really its a small niche UK manufacturer. Perkins is fine fir reconditioned stuff, but really hasnt a new design diesel. Cummins is really a US make, hard to get parts elsewhere. (good engines though, bit like Scania in Europe) Volvo is OK though there has been...
