I'm just curious. Trying to download games via Steam, and I have my computer set to screensaver/password protect after being idle for 20 minutes. I notice this is the same as when you set it to sleep, the password screen will pop up. Does this cancel out any activity in the background, ie stop my downloads?

I am unable to put my Windows Vista computer in Sleep Mode. This has only happened over the past couple days. I have not installed any new hardware or software and am not aware of any updates to my computer other than to Realplayer. I am running Vista Enterprise SP1 on a Compaq 6910p laptop (Intel Core 2 Duo T7300 @ 2GHz, 2 GB RAM). If I shutdown or restart the laptop directly, there is no issue. I'm running vista home premium 32-bit with 2 gig of ram service pack 2 on a Acer 5100 laptop. Everything has been great with vista till now. Now computer won't wake after going into sleep mode when cover is closed, power button stays lite and I have to power down and on to get computer to work. Hey, I did do a system restore but it did not recover any lost files. I'm not too fussed about the deleted files, it's the sleep mode and my windows aero theme I'm after!

Hi, Are you logged in as ADMIN? Did you Right Click on the CMD and RUN AS ADMIN? Need to do both. And its best to copy and paste that line in as it is easy to make a mistake typing it. Happy Holidays!

Do you know if the drive has a power down on pc power down functionallity? I'm just thinking here....that maybe the problem chould be that when the pc goes into sleep mode, the drive gets it as power of and will not power back on because you diden't turn "ON" the PC.
