Anyone ever hear of a beam cutter? You screw a 2X4 to a log, hook up a chain saw to this thing, set it on the 2X4, and saw off a slab, reattach the 2X4 to the now flat side and cut off another slab, continue till the log has 4 flats sides leaving a beam. is anyone every tried such a (cheap) thing? I'm ready to try unless someone has before and finds it doesn't work. I'm knot looking for beams...

A friend of mine just gave me a 7 foot dish, rotor and all the cable. I'm going to set it up. Have to pour a slab first. Is this good for C band and for FTA? I know nothing about the C band. Also can I get Ka on it as well as Ku? Btw, this is a great site. Just really started to do a lot of reading here though I know a little about fta and ota. Sarah, we had to replace our washer and dryer this summer and wound up picking the LG. Mine are downstairs on tile over a concrete slab, but once the leveling was adjusted a little, they are almost motionless and quiet. I don't think you'd have any problem with them on the second floor. Ours are on pedestals and still no motion. The only issue I have had is that for some reason, some ...

Hi Friends, Before my farm's lease and my family's needs changed, and we moved to the big city, I had my shop in a garage and a shed. I was fixing to build a beauty of a shop though. I had 30' trusses and timbers gifted from a contractor friend. I also had a huge stack of corrugated metal (salvaged from a self storage facility doing a rebuild) to roof a 50'x30' space. I was just getting ready ...

So the floor is coming along nicely. I decided to play it safe and use nails to secure the lath. The manufacture said "no" to putting the cable directly over the metal lath so I went with the approach I described above. The first layer has been poured (LevelQuik ES is amazing stuff) and the heating cable has been installed (I should have pics soon). We're pouring the second layer tonight. I...

I get this completely. So, let me tell a short story. I live in the small town of marysville in the state of washington. Every day its sunny or cloudy and dry I pick up my board and go skate. Why? Because I love it, I take it seriously and have so much fun doing so. My daily routine starts with me waking up, taking a shower, finding some money around the house, grabbing my phone and ipod, and...

Hi Mark, If you want to waterproof the floor use the Kerdi-band around the walls and where two sheets come together. If waterproofing isn't important, no Kerdi-band is needed.
