I'm using the Saunders V15 Type III stylus also and it does have a very nice vintage sound. I also have a new old stock VN35HE, and the latter is a little more clinical. In many ways I prefer the Ed Saunders except for the most pristine records with high modulation levels.

I have a V15 III with a generic cartridge. The cartridge doesn't fit properly and I could twist it side to side slightly, so I shimmed it with a piece of plastic cut from a CD jewel case and it fits tight and stays straight. The sound is OK. It tracks really good with no distortion. The bass is tight and the tone of instruments is really pleasing and musical. Overall it is a nice mellow, ...

Ortofon OM 30 or Shure V15 III HE

I have a Sony PS-X5 TT that is rock solid & am planning on using either of these cartridges I have on it. I now have a OM 05E on it tracking at 1.5 grm. I would track the OM30 at 1.0. Would this be too light with the standard Sony tonearm. Would the Shure be a better choice. Besides the lower separation, the M97xE has quite a bit more upper midrange/lower treble distortion than the V15 III with either stylus.
