I have always wanted a defense rifle, and because of the pending doom, i am forced to buy one now, or not be able to get one later. My dad got me a sks just before the old AWB (was 15 then), that I have kept but havent shot much, but was there if shtf, now when shtf i want to be better prepared. I have parts for a ar15 build that i havent got yet, and am looking for a well priced ak47 also ...

In a SHTF scenario you'ld probably be much more sparing of your ammo than you are now. I really don't think I could shoot up all the ammo I have (in such a situation). If I was really concerned about having to make my own primers I think I'd just stockpile as many as possible. They don't take up the space that lead and powder do. I'd imagine you could store several hundred thousand in one ...

At the risk of sounding like a weakling instead of a Nordic Warrior.... I often come across posts in this section that seem to have a resonating sentiment that we need to 'fight', that we as white folks 'shouldn't run and hide'. I hope everybody here realizes just how futile a 'fight' with the U.S. government would be, in the traditional definition of what a 'fight' would be. First, you are ...

I've learned my lesson on cheap sights.....they will likely fail if used even moderately hard. Aimpoint, IMO, is the best.....though Trijicon makes nice stuff....I just would rather replace a battery than have to send it back to the factory when the radioactive sight starts to fade. As for the AR.....someone mentioned 6.5Grendel....great round, but like 6.8 SPC,it's expensive to shoot...

I'd say your scenario mostly depends on money. The ARs are the highest quality, but you will pay the highest cost. 5.56 is much more expensive then 7.62, least around here. You're going to want a decent to large stockpile of ammo, that few cents extra a cartridge stacks up. The AK is a great close range rifle. But I prefer the SKS, I seem to be able to squeeze out just a little more ...
