Sure hope they got them sharp in the past 7 1/2 years. Check the dates on the posts. And reel mowers are sharpened differently than rotary mowers. My dad always did his with a file and steady hand.

I had one come loose this summer, but it did not come off. I was running the Z and I kept hearing a faint funny noise - had ear protectors on. Then I notice a slight vibration in the mower. I shut it down and check the deck. Sure enough one of the blade bolts had loosened up. Thank god the blade did not come flying off. The odd part was I had always hand tightened the blade bolts and never had a ...

I have much to say. I may have a HUGE reply. Firstly I will reply to stuff that other people have said: (and it is in reverse, all the stuff that I saw first will be at the bottom) "Also, zombies can probably be turned into biodiesel somehow" acid? " . . . unless the zombies can use the living flesh they eat to regenerate their damaged tissues" I wouldn't say regenerate . . . but it would...

I have always used an angle grinder with a 36 or 50 grit grinding disc for sharpening my mower blades. If you decide to get one of these I would spend the extra bucks and get one with a paddle switch (dead man type) because they are much safer than one with just on on/off switch. If you do much DIY stuff you will find several more uses for the tool because they are much more versitle than a ...

My Deere L108 is dead. I flipped the mower on its side to remove blades for sharpening. While undoing the spark plug boot, which was slightly corroded, I stripped the connector off of the coil's wire by mistake. Anyway, long story short - the engine won't start. New coil is in place. Starter is fine. Battery may be a touch on the low side. Haven't tested the spark yet (assume it is OK). I...

Hi Russell, the wheels with center recesses are the ticket. Bob L showed a very good example (the blue Norton). Should the grinder have flanges with a particular large diameter, like most quality brands have (large flanges lessen wheel wobble), there are even wheels with relatively large recesses and thus a thinner rim. The example shown is from Metabo. These wheels go with a manual or at ...

Some engines are finicky about using Stabil. My Honda mini tiller hates that stuff, and one of the Huskee mowers I had in the past with a B & S engine didn't like it at all either. I've switched over to Seafoam, and haven't had near the problems. Most of the time, I'll deliberately run my equipment out of gas. Then pull the maintenance for changing oil, filters, sharpening blades, ...

While it may appear that the raised teeth are for cutting, they don't cut the grass at all. It is the angle of the tooth that produces the excellent mulching results. The teeth angle toward the center of the blade to redirect the airflow and push the grass clippings back over the cutting edge of the mower blade again and again. At a maximum blade tip speed of 19,000 FPM the same grass clipping ...

Honing basically "realligns" the blade. (With use, the edge of the blade gets very small imperfections and the sharp edge gets bent over slightly...these are not big enough to SEE, but big enough to cause the blade to not be super sharp. This is all NORMAL and happens to all knives during use.) Honing regularly re-alligns the edge so you have a super sharp knife again. After 1-2 years use, ...
