Check out Bob Vaughan's knife setting video. As far as sharpening the knives, I have a Makita sharpener, and it works great for jointer and planer knives. Good luck. Here's a link to the video... http://video.google.com/videoplay?do...04587960322 121

Guinea Pig 2: Flowers of Flesh and Blood (1985, Hino) Well, I did it. I found and watched all 42 minutes of "Guinea Pig 2: Flowers of Flesh and Blood". Seeing how the series seems focused on gore (although the fourth installment which apparently features a mermaid sounds disgusting and yet oddly artistic, unlike the rest of them) and is largely unconnected I went for the 'accomplishment' of ...

Re: kitchen cutlery...yeah it's a tool 440 steel is pretty hard stuff. Many buck knives are made from 440 steel. They are a b1tch to sharpen but do hold an edge quite well. "Honing" is not sharpening a knife. You are just realigning the metal ions at the edge of the knife. Done with a "steel" Cutco is one of the best knives...

Hi, I'm aware there have been quite a few posts about knives, but having gone through them I still had some questions. I'm considering buying a 2 knife set (chef's + small knife) as a christmas present for my mum. She just cooks at home, but enjoys cooking quite a lot, and has one of these 14 knife sets which isn't much good (don't think she has a sharpener either). First of all, I'm not ...

This is a thread about survival knives. Arguably the most valiable piece of survival you can carry, it is something that every man should carry into the unknown. What are your picks? What do you look for? I have owned a SOG Seal Team Elite for camping/civilian survival purposes. However, a knife is only as good as the material it is made out of, and that is why I've been considering a ...

I purchased a Lansky sharpening system and sharpened a few of my kitchen knives with it and was very pleased with the results. While sharpening, the drawbacks of this system became apparent quite quickly--they've been mentioned here many times. 1. Sharpening a knife longer than 4 inches is a pain because of unclamping and re-clamping. 2. When using the 17 degree hole, the screws that hold the ...

I was just thinking it would be nice to have a sharp in. Where a bunch of people could get together and demonstrate the way they sharpen and people showing different equipment and methods. People could bring their hard to sharpen knives and see how someone is able to make it shaving sharp. Have people using paper wheels, belt grinders, lansky's and other clamp systems , sharpmakers, edge pro ...
