Hi.   Does the SCTSettings.adm template have a setting that allows you to disallow the use of notepad?    Is the new SCTSetting.adm template that is with the Steady State compatabile for use with the old shared computer toolkit?   Does anyone know where I can download a copy of the new SCTSetting.adm template that comes with the new Steady State.  I do not want to have...

Hi, there is no such setting in SCTsettings.adm to disable notepad. Also, I consider it's not necessary to use both SCTsettings.adm and Shared Computer Toolkit. If you want to use SCTsettings.adm to deploy restrictions in domain environment, we can try Windows SteadyState to restrict users on local computer instead of Shared Computer Toolkit.   You can download and ...

Hi.   Thanks in advance.   If you install Steady State 2.5.  Does that mean you have to manually set everything up again or do your restrictions that you had set with the Shared Computer Toolkit remain?   vze2mss6 joesf16

Hi, The majority of the restrictions will make it through the upgrade.  You should open the user in SteadyState 2.5 and make sure that the restrictions you expect are still set, and you should also log on under that restricted user's account to verify that the session works the way you expect it to. Thanks, Rob Elmer Development Lead Windows SteadyState...

Hi vze2mss6, I consider the issue is most likely not caused by Windows SteadyState or SCT as they do not detect user in domain environment nor permission related restrictions. I recommend you post the issue to our server forum under the following link:   http://social.technet.microsoft.com/forums/en-US/w inservergen/threads/   Thank you.  ...

Hi BobK, We either use a physical Dell XPS 420 desktop machine running windows 2008 x64 as our dev servers or a VMWare hosted virtual machine with similar processor and RAM allocations as a physical machine would have. For the Dell XPS 420's we install windows 2008 x64 directly onto the machine and use it as the server as its a pretty capable machine. We then install VS2008 and all the other ...
