SQL Server 2008R2 has been treated as a new version, e.g. with different features among editions. Is not possible to install SQL Server 2008 and SQL Server 2008R2 Books Online side-by-side, we got a warning message saying that the SQL Server 2008 Books Online will be upgrade and not installed side-by-side. I would like to install both Books Online side-by-side, because I need to ...

Hi Petro Ealy versions are recommended to be installed before the later versions. Consider that VS 2008 without SP1 is not supported with SQL Server 2008(see: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/956139 ), you can install in the order: VS2005 and its SP1/updates >VS 2008 and its SP1> SQL Server 2005 and its service packs> SQL Server 2008 and its service packs Thanks. Figo ...

Migration Workbench
Started 1 month, 2 weeks ago (2009-11-19 13:03:00)  by gwicke
Greetings Project to migrate a SQL Server database to Oracle using SQL Developer. The docs say that a user with DBA privilege is needed in the SQL Server database when running the migration from the Oracle side. Why? Why wouldn't a user with just READ access to the SQL Server data be required? Thanks very much!! -gary

This is mandatory as the migration is trying to build an Oracle schema that matches as good as possible the source database. But this requires to have DBA provileges at the ...

in my experience, whatever you do, server side paging in sql 2000 is ugly and slow. With CTEs in 2K5, it is awesome. In 2000 and I must have done it 8 different ways, it always stinks.

What if you needed the whole Employee Details ? or what if you needed an array of Employee Ids ? What will you do then ? Or what if you need a complex data type like Employee Details alongwith his Details from another table ? The implementation should be the same, right ? That was why I said about AJAX.  Because requirements change very often.
