OK it worked. Before I had specified an RSA encryption for the local files. That should have been ignored. Also thanks for the quick tip of restarting apache only. I know it but when troubleshooting things like this are easily missed. I had taken httpd out of the active runlevel, so that the prompt for httpd RSA passphrase doesn't block the regular boot.

I was able to get it working by using the custom configuration for the SSL configuration screen. In fact, Leopard wouldn't accept my thawte certificate at all in the certificates area. But using custom configuration it works on all services. Also, for what it's worth, I used openssl on the command line to do key generation. I followed the Apache instructions that thawte provided and...

I have to disagree with a point in the article: "Microsoft: people don't find it helpful when you block a website because its ' security certificate' isn't valid, especially since this seems to apply to most of the non-Microsoft websites on the Internet. It's just annoying and breeds a culture of fear." This advice here is epic fail. First off, not "most of the internet." It sounds to me like ...

Hey! Update time. Kayden plugged away and got his certificate headaches straightened out. He was running Server2003 with Exchange2007 and we found out that the previous admin never swapped out the original self-signed certificate that Exchange installs with. You know the one - that cert that totally kills your ability to activesync because it's not issued by a valid CA with a ...

I wouldn't give up so soon. Imag here. Part time Exhange Admin, snowboarder, and denture wearer. Your IT crew may have installed the SSL certificate correctly, and then again, maybe not. I've seen a few 2007 migrations that have missed some crucial steps that are fairly easy to fix. And given the symptoms you're seeing, it sounds like they missed something (left the default self-...

I'm running iChat Server on an XServe with Leopard, bound to Active Directory for user authentication. I have followed the tuturial on http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID =6709621 to get SSL working. The certificate is for "domain.com" with the servername being "jabber.domain.com". I'm also using a SRV record for port 5222, for the sake of the easy configuration (...
