FYI, I see GM as being already bankrupt, and although the US gov is almost certain to "rescue" it, the rescue might be more on the lines of Frannie Mae, Freddie Mac, or AIG. Those shareholders lost tons AFTER the announcement and AFTER the stocks had already tanked greatly.
