Does anybody else have a SED rate that stubbornly remains high, yet they have no noticeable signs of inflammation, and no noticeable progression of joint damage? I've been taking Humira for 20 months, and feel absolutely great. I have no pain, no morning stiffness, no problems walking, no swelling in my hands or anywhere (that I can see), yet my SED rate remains around 50....

Hey everyone. I have had a dx of SLE for about 4 years now after having had symotoms for almost 20 years. I'm under the care of a reputable rhematologist here in Sacramento. I recently had a bunch of labs run after telling my rheumatologist that I've been feeling crummy for several weeks now. My sed rate came back at 19 (the lab's "normal" reference range is up to 20), but I'd been taking my ...

Hi Everyone, I was wondering if anyone out there that has been diagnosed with hypothyroidism was told they had a high sedimentation rate. Also, It seems that I have had scalp problems since I have been diagnosed. It is like I have little tiny pimples by a hair follicle and it eventually turns into a larger sore. I also have frequent uti problems. Anyone like me?

I've been taking it since September I guess. I'm taking 60 mg and also taking Lyrica 150 2 times daily. It has helped greatly but it hasn't taken my problems away. I still have a lot going on inside and it has nothing to do with Firbo. I have a high SED rate and a very high C Reactive Protein which are indicators for inflammation...anyone here have RA and or Lupus? I'm curious to know ...

Yup, it's a generic test for inflammation, also known as ESR. The inflammation itself can come from anywhere; any inflammatory disease, stress, colds and flu, surgery, injury or even too much exercise. A few people just run higher than average SED rates and there's nothing wrong at all. I have a type of inflammatory arthritis and mine runs between 50 and 80. "Normal" is usually 0 - 20, but ...

When I saw a Gastroenterologist last month, he mentioned that my Sed Rate was up (one of my blood test results). We discussed a lot of other things and I forgot to ask about it. The only other time a doctor mentioned it was 30+ years ago when I was a teenager with knee pain. I thought it was associated with suspected arthritis. What does SED stand for, and what does it measure?
