When you enable script debugging in IE you're prone to the modal script error dialog from hell which can get stuck on some bug and infinite loop. You can't browse to another page, you can't tell it to go away, you've essentially become it's slave. Is there a way to close this annoying dialog without having to go to task manager and kill the entire process?

Sometimes you can click really really fast on some other part of the UI (such as the Home or Refresh buttons) and force the script to unload. Good luck... i usually end up just killing the process.

( Hi Ganesh, the book doesn't go into debugging, but as B Webb says, there's the excellent Firebug extension and also several debuggers for IE by MS. They allow you to set breakpoints, step in, out, etc, everything you could expect from a debugger. Is there a good IDE with debugging built-in? That I don't know, in the past I've tried some Eclipse plugins, there was a one pretty decent one,...

I am trying to programmatically detect if script debuggin is disabled in C#.  This would be similar to to going into the Advanced tab, looking in the browsing section and looking for a check box.  I would appreciate any tips or advice. Rodger Smith

Hardware & Tweaking

I am working on something like CodeIgniter. Since my framework will be publicly available to who anyone is interested, should I help the developers debugging process by performing checks on arguments passed to my functions and methods? Something along the lines of: function myFunc ( $aString, $anArray ) { if ( is_string( $aString ) ) { if ( is_array( $anArray ) {...

vsnet debugging

Hello Mike I understand your concerns that it is difficult to debug Javascript and the ActiveX control called by Javascript at the same time. Visual Studio is good at debugging scripts, however, it cannot track into the call of the ActiveX dlls. Native debuggers (e.g. windbg) is good at debugging the ActiveX dlls, but they cannot display the javacript callstack in a human-readable way. ...

Hello All, First, I'm fairly new to DNN.  I'm using the 4.9 framework but need to modify the registration process to include an additional form before asking for profile information as is the case with the base install.  I have stepped through code while debugging to see where the "Register" link goes to but cannot locate the page where the form exists.  I plan to plug my form into a panel...
