I just got a new satellite a couple days ago, and am still wondering what I can take off/should leave on. It came with Vista , and I really don't have a problem with that as long as I can still play older games with it(the most recent one I've got is Morrowind) but I've got a ton of junk on it that I know I'll never use/don't need on there too. I have NOT hooked it up to the internet yet, I ...

The short simple answer is that USA consumers have turned away from "independent" recorders in favor of the integrated cable/satellite recorders built into their decoder boxes. You can rent these ...

Encryption of Pay TV relies on two mechanisms. Scrambling or Encryption of the audio and video and secondly, management of commercial entitlements which have to be transmitted as secured messages to the satellite decoder box. I have found encryption can easily be applied to a digital bitstream, all bits are encrypted by using a block cipher like DES. Scrambling is used for analogue ...

Which Dish Network receiver do you have? I receive channel 3 in HD by plugging my attic antenna into my receiver. The receiver integrates the signal into the program guide and I can see channel 3 (as well as PBS 35) just like the other HD channels delivered via satellite.

So here is the problem. Let me know if I have this right. First of all, I was told that my receiver does NOT have to be hooked up to the satellite to do this. Is this true? I'll tell you what I've been doing so far, but no luck. I've tried 6 times now. 1. I shut the power off on the receiver and then shut the switch off on the back, and then unplug all the cables. 2. I bring the ...
