I am planning on getting both a rack and roof tent for next season. Any recommondations as to which rack, of the two mentioned, would provide the best mounts for the tent? Does it matter at all? How about mounting a mountain bike? Any differences there? Tough call on the two racks, but I'm leaning toward the Gobi.

I've just picked up a roof top tent for the top of my 3rd Gen 4runner. I plan to mount it towards the rear (centered over the rear axle) on the factory roof rack rails and I'm trying to figure out what to do for a fairing to try and cut down the drag. I've found this thread talking about fairings but its geared more towards whether or not a fairing does anything. I'm looking more for ideas ...

Here is a product idea I’ve been kicking around for some time now and was hoping to get some feedback from the Expo community. What if? There was a DIY Trailer / Roof top tent available? If it had an expedition / outfitter quality, canvas tent body but, you had to put in some “sweat equity” by building the folding based? How does putting in some “sweat equity” appeal to folks?...

Hi there I bought an arb tent, and I installed over my OEM roof rack, The thing is that I have seen that the roof of my Toyota, is getting damaged, it looks like bombed for coconuts!!! I'm thinking that is because the oem roof rack is not designed to support this weights limits!! Some body has more info about this??

this shows the packed size.... see this link for lots of detailed pictures of how I cut the backer board, attached the frame, etc.....Yes there is a center bar and I think it could be removed as well and the hinges...as one can see from the pictures all of the legs and parts bolt together so there is no risk with expermenting... http://hightechcoonass.smugmug.com/O......

I have the BajaRack and love it! Great design and very well thought about especially for only being a cost of around $550.00! It's remarkable what I have done with it and what I have loaded it with. I know the guys over at BajaRack recently made a rack for the FJ's with a section just for a RTT. Sergio is the owner and I imagine if you contacted him maybe he could look at making a RTT rack for ...

I voted swag, got a mate with a roof top tent and they seem big and heavy for what they are, 50kg for a 2 person tent. and i think you would be more likely to injure yourself climbing up and down the ladder then having a snake crawl into bed with you in a swag/tent (if you zip it up) or ****ting yourself on windy night with no protection from falling tree limbs where in a tent/swag your vehicle ...
