realtek+hd+audio+drivers - forum post summary

I just installed the latest 2.38 driver for my ALC888 Realtek onboard HD audio. I upgraded it from the R2.35 driver. "Vista, Windows7 Driver(64bits) Driver only (Executable file) R2.38 " But this number doesn't show in device manager, only these numbers in my screenshot. Shouldn't it say 2.38 somewhere?

This is driving me crazy. My PC runs great, but there is obviously an issue with the drivers for Realtek and Win 7. Sometimes I have sound, sometimes I don't. You just never know. Most of the time it doesn't even register that I have speakers. I've tried downloaded the driver from the HP site. I've also tried downloading the driver from Realtek's site. Nothing has worked yet. I am not sure if by stopped you mean disabled. If it is disabled you can go to the System menu in control panel, go do device manager, right click on the device that the driver is for and select properties. In the driver tab there is a button to enable/disable the device. If it is disabled, enable it. Hopefully this helps. You should also be able to use this same menu to fix the problem with...
